Hello again

And here we are… back on Blogger. Thank you Posterous for closing down. Our time together was short and anything but sweet (if you ever used Posterous, you know what I mean).

It has certainly been a while since I last posted anything anywhere. And I sit here with no good starting point. Maybe just an overview of the highlights…

Our oldest son is now eleven. And when Brice has a birthday it is an undeniable reminder of how old I”m getting. I’m pretty sure a handful of new greys sprang up on his birthday, just after I realized that he’d be a teenager in two short years. How crazy is that!
He and I recently went to the middle school band fair and our soon to be a middle school-er is going to be a baritone player.

As for the other two boys… I think they just might have a pact to fill the house with as much clatter as possible… kudos to them, they sustain a tremendous success rate. Oh yes, we have rules and consequences and a big ole yard for them to play in… but who can resist the joys of bathroom wars and bunk bed combats.

Trent has had a friend of ours tutoring him each week and we have seen him come leaps and bounds. He recently brought home 100% on a spelling test and on his own accord he’s been getting to know Geronimo Stilton.
On another note… Trent has begun to show an interest in Jesus. A few Sundays ago he read over the passage from the sermon several times answering questions I had written out for Brice. He’s also been praying to know more about Jesus. The little analytical wheels are spinning and he’s been asking questions and paying close attention.

Nevan is doing pretty fine. He does well in school, though struggles to… let’s call it “have a positive outlook”. Since professing Christ he has come in and out of that struggle. We had some crazy weird spiritual things going on in our home a couple months ago that seemed to for whatever reason be focused for a time around Nevan. And while it was strange and frightening… it has been a blessing on our family. We pray so much more and so differently.

The girls are as giggle-some as ever. It is so completely joyful to see Darc and Brynn playing together and becoming great friends. They are musicians and sing merrily throughout the day. They are artists and one could find a few of their original works on the walls and the back of their bedroom door. And they are trend setters, rockin a hipster fashion with sundresses, one legging rolled up and rain boots while wearing one piggy tail, multicolored nail polish and a scarf. Who would a though my girlies were so cool.

And the baby… probably one of the sweetest babies you’ve ever met. Seven months, sitting up and still attached to me entirely. Most days I delight in nursing my last baby, but sometimes… I look eagerly forward to the day that things don’t revolve around her face being planted in my bosom.

The Lord has been growing us all in new and amazing ways over the last year. He has been quickening us, changing our hearts and drawing us closer to Himself. We enjoy our community and friends exceedingly. We have been blessed with the Lords provision in immense and undeniable ways. We have seen Him working in each other and through each other and in our relationships to one another.

We have a gal living with us right now for whom we are providing a space to make some changes in her life. I think back on times we have had other folks living with us and am thankful for the ways God has prepared us for Rachel.

I think back on the last few years and thank God for the ways He has prepared up for what lies ahead…
