Blown away by the new library in Cedar Rapids. It’s pretty awesome. I met a friend there during our stay and the kids were plenty entertained while we hung out and caught up. Just before saying our tear-filled good bye’s she told me that back when I was pregnant with no. six, she and her husband had been visiting with some folks and our family came up in conversation. She mentioned that I was due at any time and they decided to pray for us and the baby right then… After checking FB later on she realized that they had been praying for us during our crazy drive and while giving birth to our daughter in the truck. Way more amazing then even the rooftop on that three story library… How awesome is our God. We don’t get to see our Iowa friends very often… but He has knit our hearts together, and no matter where He takes us or what we might face… our relationships go further then any distance and I love that we are remembered… that the Lord leads us to pray for our brothers and sisters in His sovereignly perfect timing… that we can reconnect with each other as if no time had past.
I always have mixed emotions when we travel back to IA… It’s the place where my life in Christ began, it’s where we got married, it’s where most of my children were born, it’s where my family is and where I spent nearly a decade building life and community. Spending time with so many folks that we love so dearly is a temptation to question our venture South. This summer’s trip was particularly emotional as we shared with our parents and friends where we feel the Lord is leading us next…
But He has reminded me that wherever go… wherever we are… we are not alone. He is with us always, and stirs others to remember us also.
