The one who gives

The life, death and resurrection of Jesus is good news indeed! From creation to the return of Christ, every bit of the Gospel is inspiring and luring… it’s the love story our hearts desire. For those who believe, the Gospel draws us and empowers us to live out our lives.
As we ponder the wonder and majesty of the Gospel, it draws us to worship. We are created to worship. We worship the things that we believe will satisfy us; the things that we believe to be ultimately good; the things we find our joy in. If not the Lord, our hearts will worship something…
By Him all things were created… through Him and for Him (Colossians 1:16). For those with eyes to see our hearts are drawn to worship his goodness, his might and his unconditional and unfailing love for us.
Our faith can be as Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego’s; to know and believe the Gospel gives us a powerful tool to fight against our idols. Though our flesh desires false joys and our hearts are tempted by created things, the power of the Gospel in us strengthens us to shed that which encumbers us, to see clearly, to proclaim his salvation and marvelous deeds, to know that all good things come from above and that he provides, and to praise his great and awesome name…

The week before Thanksgiving, I was troubled over the amount of food we needed to purchase to serve the asylum seekers and other guests we’d be having… and I remembered the story of Robert Muller and heard the Spirit lead me to pray specifically for a Turkey. I shared this with my family over dinner… and Stephen prayed that God would provide for our Thanksgiving meal. Afterwards, I knew that that wasn’t what the Lord had wanted. He asked me to pray specifically for a turkey… so, I asked Stephen if we could please pray precisely for a turkey.
The very next day… a friend got a hold of us and asked if we wanted/needed a turkey. He had just received one the night before from a client and didn’t need it… And a couple of days later we were having dinner at a friends and they pulled a turkey out the freezer and gave it to us…
It was so incredible and awesome to celebrate and worship God with my family. I had been praying that God would show himself in tangible ways to the kids so that they would know his glory… I LOVE when the Spirit leads us to worship… Though our friends generosity was not un-noted, it is the Lord who gave us the turkeys. Though my husband is a hard worker and his company pays him well, it is God who provides. In all that we have and receive and do… praise the Lord oh my soul.
