I took the girls to paint today, and started a little something… and it will take me a long while to finish this, but I’m super pumped because it’s far different than the kinds of projects I typically fill my days with.
I like projects with quick results, I become board with repetition, and I’m always ready to jump into something new. I’m an extrovert to the max, a visionary, a busy homeschooling momma of eight, and living and starting a business as an expat in Nepal.
I quite often forget to take time away from people, or time to do much of anything alone. Not even in the bathroom do I get a quiet moment to myself. This however, this is more or less a solo endeavor; something that will keep me still, allow me to think, requires patience, endurance, quietness, and reflection. We mom’s need to do a better job of allowing ourselves to cultivate these traits. Have you seen Mom’s Night Out? (I die laughing every time.) I love the scene where the husband tells his wife that she has to put her oxygen mask on first. We can’t be expected to take the best care of others if we aren’t first taking care of ourselves.
